Be(com)ing an Entrepreneur

As far as I can remember I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. Run a business, be my own boss, lead a team.

It started with the dream of running a music store when I was a teenager, to considering starting an environmentally friendly cleaning business, a dog-walking company before it was a thing in my area, or owning my own coffee shop.

In 2015 I started to work as a freelance photographer while maintaining my day job. In 2016 I started a media production company where I recorded musicians playing live sessions and field recordings. In 2018 I had a prolific year recording very talented musicians abroad but failed to learn how to make money with that endeavour. I think a part of me knew this wasn’t it, this wasn’t my project yet, I’d have to wait another three years before figuring out what path I was supposed to take.

I explore my past to connect the dots of where I’ve been with where I’m going. Figure out what the next step is. Every experience I had, in my professional and personal life, led me to where I am today, becoming an entrepreneur and building an online business. Every experience I had as a photographer, a videomaker, a team member, a person, led me to unite all my skills for one big adventure. Entrepreneurship.

For me, becoming an entrepreneur is about taking responsibility for my life, and making sure I do everything in my power to be able to provide for myself and my family in the future. I don’t want to rely solely on a day job and a paycheck to secure my future anymore. With an internet connection and a smart phone, we have so many opportunities to create multiple sources of income. I want to take advantage of that, run with it and see how far I can take it.

This is an exciting time, the dawn of a new chapter. Figuring out what my place in the world is, how I want to share my message, how I can help make this world a better place, all the while pursuing my dreams.

Are you on a journey to become an entrepreneur? Have you connected the dots? Do you know in which direction you want to go? Surely we don’t need to have all the answers at the beginning, but by starting the journey and overcoming challenges along the way, we can find some of them, and find out what we are truly made of.
