Goal Setting

I recently created a goal setting workshop to help people who might be struggling with not meeting their goals year after year and I’ve learned a great deal from it.

To create this workshop, I gathered inspiration from all the tools and tricks I’ve used over the years to achieve my own personal and professional goals. It made me realize just how much I have done in my life and how much I have to share to help people who might be today where I was a year ago. Lost, confused, tired, knowing there’s something more for them to do on this planet but not sure what it is or how to get started.

Today I want to share some of that knowledge with you. I also want to let you know that you can still join and get access to the Goal Setting Workshop if you feel ready to take your life to the next level.

Clarity

Knowing where you want to go and which life experiences you want to create for yourself is essential if you want to ever get there. Without a clear picture of your goal, you cannot achieve your goal. I mean you might get lucky, but it’ll be much faster and much more fun to get there if you have a crystal clear picture of your destination.

The first step to take before making a plan to achieve your goals, is to know what your goals are. In order to do that, you need to ask yourself some questions, remember your dreams, and think big picture.

You could for example start by asking yourself what your current goals are, if you have achieved them or not, if you still resonate with them. You can then ask yourself what your new goals might be, based on who you want to be tomorrow, not who you are today.

Is there anything on your bucket list that you keep pushing aside because you think it’s too big, too risky, impossible... How sure are you that you can’t get it? Get clear on why you think that goal is impossible to reach before you throw it out the window, because you might be basing this opinion on limiting beliefs, not facts.

If there’s the slightest spark of belief in you that you can get it, you’ve got something to work with. So let’s move on to the next step to make sure that spark stays alive and shines brighter each day.

Limiting Beliefs

If you have a list of goals that you fail to accomplish no matter how many times you tried, it might be because you don’t actually BELIEVE that you can accomplish these goals. You might be crippled with limiting beliefs that are holding you back from getting what you want.

I know too well the power of limiting beliefs and talking myself out of something I want because I am too afraid of failure, or of the work I’ll have to put in if I decide to go get it.

But I am here to tell you that there’s nothing too big for you and that with the right mindset you can accomplish anything. I know this is a cliché thing to say and that it seems to be based on nothing but unicorns and empty air, but I think we have enough examples around us of wildly successful people to admit that anything is possible in this life. Just think of the people you admire, look up their history, are they not regular human beings like you and me? If they could achieve their goals, why not you?

If you stop enumerating to yourself all of the reasons why you can’t do it and start thinking about all of the reasons WHY YOU CAN, you will start to feel like you actually can do it and this could be the beginning of an incredible journey for you if you decide to go all in.

Limiting beliefs are thoughts, opinions, very often not even ours, and we believe them as if they were set in stone, but they’re not. They’re just thoughts, and that means that you can change them. You can choose empowering thoughts over thoughts based in fear, anxiety or lack.

Making a Plan

Nothing happens without a plan. You need to have a plan if you want to achieve your goals.

Making a plan is very easy once you went through the first two steps. All you have to do is take your list of goals and break them into smaller actions to take each months and each weeks until you achieve them.

If you’re working on different goals at the same time, be careful to not overcommit yourself. Don’t work on two major goals at the same time, work on them one after another. Put some thinking into your planning. Prioritize, organize, visualize, and create a realistic timeline to achieve them.

Once you broke down your goals into actions to take each months, you can add those to your day-to-day schedule and to-do list. That way, every week you are working on getting closer to your big picture.

In my goal setting workshop I guide you through all of those steps through simple exercises and prompts, I share with you some of my favorite tools and I give you access to my Goal Planner template to make it easy for you to visualize and organize your goals and monthly actions.

Achieving your goals doesn’t have to be that big scary thing over the horizon, it can be made easy and enjoyable if you have the right tools at your disposal . And I want to help you with that.
