How To Focus On The Endgame

Do you sometimes get discouraged by the amount of work in front of you and by the fact that you’re not seeing any results or at least not as much as you’d like to?

I know I do.

Sometimes I forget what my endgame is, I forget that one day I will be running my business full time, one day I will get monetized on YouTube, and everything I am currently working for will pay off.

I forget about all that when I get overwhelmed by the work at hand. I get overwhelmed with my to-do list, I get overwhelmed with my finances, I get overwhelmed about my living situation, and I forget that I do have an endgame and that it is reachable.

So let’s talk about that today. Let’s talk about what we can do to stay focused on the endgame even in the midst of challenges.

Make a vision board

The first thing you can do to remember your endgame and quickly recenter your focus on it is to create a vision board. That’s right. A vision board of your goals, your dreams, and your dream life is a great way to remind yourself of why you are doing everything that you are doing and where you are going.

A quick look at your vision board and all its pictures and words that inspire you is the fastest way to remind yourself of what your endgame is and why you are doing everything that you are doing.

The benefit of a vision board is also that you get to smile when you look at it, if you put up pictures of things, places, or experiences that inspire you with joy, you will be smiling every time you see it.

Create your dream storyline

Creating your dream storyline for your life is also a great way to:

1/ Make sure you know where you are going

2/ Remind yourself of where you are going when you’re stuck in panic mode.

In November of 2021, I created a storyline called “A Day in the Life”. It’s a day in the life of future me when I get to see results from all the seeds I’m planting now. I love it so much. Every time I read it, I get a big smile on my face and remember exactly what my endgame is. I find it even more efficient than the vision board.

How do you create your dream storyline? You can use the example of “A Day in the Life” and write a story about what the ideal day looks like for you down the line once you’ve reached your goals. I went into details with mine from my first cup of coffee in the morning, meeting with my (future) team for strategy, getting emails from new clients to taking a bath to unwind in the evening. You can write whatever you want, it’s your story!

Renew your commitment

It can be easy to discard and forget about your commitments when you make them to yourself and don’t have anyone around to hold you accountable for them, but renewing your commitment to yourself, to your mission, and to your dream is a great way to stay focused on the endgame.

In January of 2022, I wrote a letter to myself, a letter of commitment to not forget about my goals, that I can trust myself, and that I am worthy of my dreams, I signed it and hung it in a frame on my wall.

Every time I look at it I am reminded that I made a commitment to take my life in a certain direction and that I have to stick to it if I want my dream life to become my reality.

Write yourself a letter, say what you are going to do, commit to doing the work, commit to showing up even when it’s hard, sign it, date it, and put it on your wall or in a special folder, just make sure you get to see it often enough so it doesn’t get lost or forgotten about.

Find sources of inspiration

When it gets hard to show up and to remind yourself why you are doing all this, look for inspiration in the people who inspired you to do this in the first place.

For me, it’s a couple of YouTubers, business creators, and coaches that really made it look like I could do this too, that I could go for my dream business. When things get hard, I go back to them to remind myself of what the life I am working for looks like and that I can have that too. Obviously not the exact same because I am me and I have my own desires, ambitions, taste, and all that, but it reminds me that it’s possible to go from zero to hero, and that lights me up.

Find the sources of inspiration who do that for you. Find the people who inspire you, who have something similar to what you want, to what you are working for, look closely, and remind yourself that you can do that too.

As I’m finishing writing this article I know I am about to get up and take a look at my vision board and probably watch a vlog on YouTube from someone who inspires me, knowing that it will give me the kick I need to keep going.

I hope you have fun with this process! Leave a comment below to let me know if you are already using any of these techniques or which one you will try first!
